Throughout his career, Benny Poole has given so much to our city and created change in our community all through his passion for jazz.
Having played with artists such as Prince and Ray Charles, Benny had multiple opportunities to leave Jackson to play elsewhere. However, his desire to keep his music here, in the town he built as “The Newest Jazz City,” was more important.
To honor his career, muralist and recent Western High School graduate Evan Struck designed and painted a mural at the Night Light in Downtown Jackson. Join us in thanking Benny for all he has done for our community and all he did to help keep the lights on.
